EAST ALTON PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES

CALL TO ORDER

The regular meeting of the East Alton Public Library District board of Trustees was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by president Sally Hierman at the library. Those in attendance were C. Wiegand, J. Podesva, B. Werts, E. Long, and L. Thatcher.   Also present was the Director, Richard Chartrand.  6 present, 1 absent. Quorum established.

DIRECTOR’S REPORT

1.      The budget hearing will be at 6:30 PM the night of the board meeting.

2.      $37,000.00 was transferred from the Illinois Funds account to
the checking account at Liberty Bank.  

3.      David will be working the board meeting under Paula’s
tutelage.  

4.      I no longer have a land line. My new phone number is
314-795-7653.

5.      The $1.00 a bag sale continues as the old fiction section
continues to be weeded. It is the only way to get rid of those
books.  

6.      I promised Roger Werts that I would speak to the Rotary
Club the next time it was his turn to plan a program.  

7.      I am working on rectifying the phone bill for the data line.
AT&T admits they do not know what happened.
May bill: $243.36        June bill: $4,517.38.

8.      The Levy Ordinance will be in the August board packet for
passage in September. There will be no need for a “Truth-in-
Taxation” hearing.  

9.      Nothing to report on Olin. I don’t know if this is good or not.  

10.  Kevin and Jocie are learning their new duties. Paula keeps
them on a short leash.  

11.  Youth Services: The summer reading program started
Tuesday, June 12th. The first performer was Frazzle the
Clown.

Our second performance was the St. Louis Zoo.

The last performer for the month of June was Nitro Joe.

I’ve had three movies so far: Jungle Book, Journey 2 the
Mysterious Island, and Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa.

The craft activities have been a success.

I’ve had approximately 125 children register for the summer
reading program.
