YOUTH SERVICES REPORT

October 2017

After school story time and craft activities began in full starting September 5th.  I have had a great after school group--approximately 10-14 children.  Our September themes were back to school, jump into fall, scarecrows, and falling leaves.  Coordinating crafts were very decorative: back-to-school comprehensive, image sticker sheets, fall sun catchers, scarecrow hangers, and “beary” happy fall magnets.

Family movie night for September was an animated, musical comedy called “Rock Dog.”  A tremendous turnout included 19 moviegoers.  The children and parents enjoyed the movie and refreshments.  I will have a Halloween double feature next month.

The SWAYS meeting for September was at the Wood River Public Library.  An overview of summer reading programs were discussed.  I submitted various contests, children’s prize reward incentives & games, and a schedule that I offered for the members’ perusal.

I’ve been updating and purchasing books for the early childhood age groups to the young adults as well as decorating the bulletin board and the display case.  October is approaching quickly!
