DIRECTOR’S REPORT |
1. Volunteer hours: · Will – 60 · Richard – 33.5 (Paid for 65 hours) 2. Brandy Hunter’s last day was July 31, 2017 3. Accept the resignation of Chris Hendricks effective July 31, 2017. Chris completed his education and is intending on taking a job in New Jersey. 4. The budget and 2ȼ Building and Maintenance Tax Resolution have been published in the Telegraph. 5. The ordinance for the replacement library card fee is included in the board packet. 6. A replacement tax check in the amount of $714.01 was received on August 9, 2017. 7. Max Rickerson has returned for the school year. 8. Due to the minimum 30-day requirement for waiting to pass the Levy after 9. We are short a 20-hour position once again. 10. There have been frequent air conditioner repairs this month. YOUTH SERVICES REPORT August 2017 Summer reading continued throughout July. There was only one performer in July due to the 4th of July holiday on Tuesday. Animal Tales from Kentucky was well received by the children. Their We had a couple of creative craft projects. The children made spyglass telescopes using various mediums. A Perler bead fusing craft kept them entertained for several hours. Various stencils were used by filling in the stencil with the beads. I enjoyed awarding various prizes and awards the first week since there were so many prizes to be given. I was happy to announce that the top reader was a 12-year-old girl (Lydia Ruot) with 1,960 minutes. She only had to read 600 minutes. I was very proud of her accomplishment. Many top reader prizes, achievement prizes, guessing jar prizes, contest prizes were awarded. Too numerous to mention. Finale 2 held the following week was at Van I received another donation from Patches and Badges from Wood River. This was a surprise donation that is very much appreciated. They had given me a donation at the beginning of the program. Donated coupons from Sonic and Gateway Grizzlies baseball game tickets were available to all the children. Besides the “drawing” prizes won (including Cardinal baseball tickets), each child received a draw-string bag (tie-dyed cloth) filled with coupons, tickets, candy, multi-use pens, puzzle erasers, stickers, and the beloved slime! I am attaching a very special gift given to Activities are being planned for August centering on the Riverbend Rockers and the Solar Eclipse. The children will soon be back in school.
