Get a Card

Everyone is welcome to use the library, but if you want to take materials home or place item requests, you must have a valid library card from an Illinois Heartland Library System member library. Any resident within the East Alton Public Library District that is 18 or older can get a card from our library.

For residents 17 or younger, the juvenile's parent or guardian has to have an EAPL card and sign for their child. The child must be able to print their name to be able to apply. You may fill out an application at the circulation desk.

To get a card with the district of East Alton (or if you are the parent/guardian of a juvenile wanting a card), please bring in:

  • A photo ID with your current address

  • If your ID doesn't have your current address, also bring a piece of mail post-marked within 30 days, a tax bill for the most recent year, a voter’s registration card, or a passport
